The
clairvoyant administrators of Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar had foreseen that in days to come,
the need of inclusion of Yoga and natural life style
in order to receive a “disease free life” shall
rule the humanity. It was with this view point that
along with the curricular provision of teaching Yoga
and Naturopathy, the process of its promotion
and propagation on the base of Ayurvedic
guide lines in the society was initiated
by the Swasthavrutta
department of Shree Gulabkunverba Ayurved
College, Jamnagar since the year 1982. The seed then sown grew up as Institute for Naturopathy-Yoga and Physiotherapy (I.N.Y.P) in the
year 1995
as a self supported independent institute, which kept
on developing to form a full-fledged independent self
financed MAHARSHI PATANJALI INSTITUTE FOR YOGA NATUROPATHY EDUCATION AND RESEARCH in the year 2000 A.D.
Since its coming in to being, the institute is carrying
out various activities to promote the science of Yoga
and Naturopathy among the people along with implementing
various academic courses. These courses include some
that have been designed & forwarded by the Central
Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (C.C.R.Y.N.),
New Delhi. The institute, at present has its
own separate Yogasium and
Naturopathy Complex having well equipped Naturopathy
- Gymnasium Depts., Yoga halls, Library etc.
For
an effective administration and guidance of the activities
of the institute, a "Governing Body" has been
formed. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor
and Hon'ble Registrar of G.A.U.
happen to be its Chairman and secretary respectively.
Besides this, other members of the Governing Body are
nominated from among the members of Senate – Syndicate
of Guj. Ayu. Uni.,
members nominated by the Government etc. For facilitating
the routine administrative activities, the institute
has various administrative posts as well.
The main motto of the institute is to create health
awareness in the society by the means of Yoga and Naturopathy
and to promote and propagate our oriental and traditional heritage in the
form of the sciences of Yoga and Naturopathy based on
Ayurvedic guidelines.
